Insomnia = Inflammation & Stress
On October 29, 2009 the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a study that shows which states have the highest percentage of insomnia, with West Virginia leading the nation. Nearly 1 in 5 West Virginians said they did not get a single good night’s sleep in the previous month, while the national average was 1 in 10 people having insomnia. California’s average was a little better with roughly 1 in 7.

On March 23rd the New York Times reported that the national sales of candy and sweets has dramatically risen over recent months, corresponding with a shrinking economy. At Candyality, a store in Chicago, business has jumped by 80 percent compared with this time last year. At the Candy Store in San Francisco, the owner has tripled her orders for candies in the past few months.

A “research” study conducted by The National Institutes of Health has concluded that vitamin supplementation doesn’t work in the reduction of the risk of prostate, lung, colorectal, bladder, or pancreatic cancers. Did anyone supporting the use of vitamin supplements ever say that they did? The problem with researching vitamin supplements with the same mindset and goals as researching pharmaceutical medications is that it is a case of comparing oranges to apples.

A newly released research study brings us the wonderful news that after all of these years of scaring us about the dangers of cholestrol as the risk factor in heart disease and strokes, it turns out that the real culprit is inflammation. The same “science” that warned us of the dangers of eating eggs, which are now considered to be good for us, and told us to avoid butter but eat margarine, which is now considered to be a cancer causing carcinogin, want us to take drugs even if we don’t need them.
